Today's Peace of Truth: Fourth of July Weekend is Right Around the Corner!

Hey there fellow Americans!!! Independence Day is fast approaching, so I wanted to make sure you were aware of the events going on this weekend. I plan on taking a harbor cruise Friday afternoon and going out on the town afterwards. You can take advantage of this boat trip at portsmouthharbor.com. Fireworks start at 9:15 at the South Mill Pond, so make sure you find parking and a spot to watch, well in advance. I'd suggest looking at the municipal parking lot first, since it is right across from the fireworks display. If it does rain, which it is likely to do, the fireworks will be on the 5th. (**Due to the fireworks, the High-Hanover Parking Garage will charge a flat $3 fee from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., July 3. There will be no parking on streets near the South Playground (except for residents of those streets). -http://www.portsmouthnh.com/calendar/ShowDetail.cfm?Event_ID=330&EventDateID=514 )

As for the 4th, an Old Fashioned American Celebration will be held at Strawberry Banke from Noon-5:00. There will be tons of old time activities and demos, but remember, it costs $15 for adults, while kids/military members are allowed in for free. Though this sounds like a nice time, I am will be going to Keene for a lakefront party. I think this holiday is about remembering why we are free, and what better way to do that than to go canoeing on the open water, roast marshmallows by a campfire, and sleep beneath the stars with friends? Live free or die, right? :)
