Since it was 80 degrees this weekend, I decided to get out and enjoy the sunshine, much like the rest of the population. Durham, NH was hosting something called Solarfest, and I thought it sounded like a fun idea....
A small business out of Northwood used solar power to create electricity for bands to play music! What a fantastic way to harness energy and utilize it in a way that's fun!!! There were a handful of small bands playing reggae and feel good music. Tents and tables surrounded the area with environmental information, small plants for sale, blown glass beads, natural products, and healthy, local, organic foods. This sort of festival tends to bring out the earthy kids and that it did. They came right out of the woodwork! :) Everywhere you looked there were dreadlocked hippies, sporting flip-flops, earth-toned clothes, and smiling faces. Hula hoops were available to play around with, and some people were throwing frisbees in the field nearby. Others danced to the music, or just sat on the grass and took in the lovely atmosphere. It was a beautiful day, and I wouldn't have wanted to spend it anywhere else!
