Today's Peace of Truth: Summer Festivals are Fun!

Hey folks! Summer is here, so it's time to scope out concerts, festivals & events for the summer. Weekends tend to fill up fast with plans, between these types of entertainment, family gatherings, weddings, parties, get-aways and vacations. I like to look up things to do on local sites like portsmouthnh.com and seacoastnh.com to browse the calendars of events and note any upcoming things that I want to do or attend. Of course there are always unadvertised things to do that you come across or do on your own. For example, the beach! You can go sun bathe, swim, read, relax, play or even have bonfires at night if you have a permit! The ocean is such a great, free place to have fun in the summer.

I went to multiple festivals Saturday including Chowderfest, the Piscataqua Waterfront Festival and the Seacoast Local Festival. There was also the NH Outdoor Leisure Expo that I walked by, but didn't attend. It was a wonderfully sunny weekend for these to take place, and the turnout was great! Besides waiting in long lines for chowder, I had no complaints. I voted for Captain Hutch's Restaurant in Barrington, NH for the best chowder & booth. They had a nice hearty seafood chowder, with tiny chunks of lobster, haddock, clams, and potatoes. Other chowders were noticeabley scorched, too thin, or plain. We enjoyed live music while filling up with all the chowda-heads!

If you need a concert suggestion here you go! I've found a great free concert in Newburyport on Saturday July 11th from 3-7:00 pm. Its put on by 92.5 the River, Boston's Independent Radio. At the 8th Annual Riverfront Festival, you will hear the music of Fastball, the Sam Roberts Band, Eric Hutchinson, and Katie Herzig. I went last year and it was a blast! There were tons of free drinks, food, and music, or course! I recommend getting there early with lawn chairs or blankets, since the lawn fills up fast!

So get out, enjoy the sunshine, and book up your calendar with lots of fun summer weekends! Maybe I'll see you around!!! :)
